FAQs

  • Yes, I love to stay in touch during your pregnancy! At around 35-37 weeks, we will also set up a phone call to touch base and go over details so that we can both have accurate expectations concerning your birth plans/my processes. We can always have this call sooner too, just say the word!

  • Please reach out to me as soon as you know that you’re in labor. This is because in addition to getting ready, packing up my gear, and driving to your location, I also have to organize childcare before making my way to you. I aim to come once you are definitively in active labor and things are continuing to progress well!

  • Lighting is everything when it comes to quality images, so if you’ve chosen to have me there as your birth photographer that’s what I plan to give you. As a result, I will come prepared with multiple cameras, lenses, and options for lighting (on-camera flash, and freestanding LED light pole). If anything becomes disruptive to your labor PLEASE do not hesitate to let me know, I won’t take it personally!

  • You will receive an online gallery with a minimum of 75 unique, artistically edited, high-resolution images.

  • I don’t take more than 2 clients within a 4 week window to avoid potential overlap and I will be on call from 38 weeks until birth. This being said, please do your best to reach out in the first or second trimester if you are serious about birth photography and would like to reserve your spot!

  • I typically stay about 45 minutes to an hour after the birth to get some sweet golden hour photos with you, your partner, and your new baby. If it’s important for you to have photos of the newborn exam, please communicate with your provider that you would like to have this completed within an hour post-birth.

  • I use my personal discretion when posting photos because of my own values, but I think there is beauty in every aspect of birth. Please see my instagram if you are curious about the kinds of photos I might share. If you are uncomfortable with this, please communicate it to me when you sign/return the contract with the model release, these photos are first and foremost your private archive to cherish however you see fit.

  • First, let me assure you that I will always do EVERYTHING in my power to make it to your birth. However, if something were to happen and I wasn't able to make it, for mama’s with my birth only package the payment isn’t due until after the birth so nothing would need to be reimbursed. For mom’s taking advantage of the full package (maternity, birth, newborn + keepsake album) I require a 30% initial deposit so this would cover the cost of the maternity session only, and we could discuss if you still wanted to move forward with the newborn photos + keepsake album.

  • I can offer in-home newborn sessions, or I offer a full studio lighting setup with soft lighting in our home (Sinking Spring).

  • If I have ample time once I arrive at a birth I will always do my best to set up an additional camera for video on a portable tripod. Since this camera isn’t on my body there is a chance that the view of this camera could be blocked by someone during the birth process so I can’t always guarantee a video, but I do my best to provide it in all circumstances!

(no strings attached, promise!)

4 Reasons to Hire a

birth photographer

preserving

MEMORIES

Most of us want to capture the milestones in our children's lives such as learning to walk or ride a bike, so if we try to capture those moments, why not the most important of them all... their birth?

reflect &

REMEMBER

Sometimes the risk with a long labor, or long pushing phase could be that you are so exhausted from the journey it took for you to arrive at the moment of your baby’s birth, that you might not be as present as you would have liked. Pictures will help you to reflect and remember things you may have otherwise forgotten with the passage of time. Like the very moment your baby cries or looks up at you or your partner.

focus ON THE

MOMENT

As a laboring mother, all your attention will be on the birth, and all of your partners will be on you and the baby. It's hard for your partner to prioritize capturing pictures when they themselves need to be there for you and your new baby. They especially can't capture those first few moments after the birth because they will be taking it all in themselves.

share YOUR

EXPERIENCE

Birth photos can be a very special way to share your birth experience with family and friends who weren't present. They can also be great keepsakes for children to have, and look back on for themselves. Having the opportunity to see the exact moment they were born, including the setting, the people, the emotion; what a special, unparalleled gift that is.
